Today's meeting was helpful for a greater starting point, and making decisions and so on. I spoke about my initial ideas - the journal, Sam Taylor-Wood, people and routines.
Feedback I received spoke about;
- The importance of documenting my design journey via my blog - especially as it ties in with my journal theme.
- Look at online journals
- The use of sequencing a story/routine
- How journals are being used
- Historic and contemporary journals
- Photography as a journal - how it is used to document?
- New day, New photo?
- Look at Magma books
- Flip books as a form?
- The journals of Pete Doherty and Kurt Cobain
- Repetition/Journey/Routine
- Layering?
- Look at Nan Goldin - photography tells a story/narrative
- Recent photos of a cancer patient in the newspaper - (photography stopped when cancer struck)
- Green Wing opening credits
I was also informed to consider whether my journal would have an end; Whether it would be for public use, memory, or a private journal; Whether the journal would be about a ficticious character or a real person, me now or the past, other people, character from a film or TV show.

THOUGHTS...
I shall be visiting the Museum and Gallery on Tuesday, and looking at journals. Will take out books on Monday to get some inspiration.
THE DEFINATES;
I know that I want to do a contemporary journal because a historic theme would not interest me, or make me feel any passion towards creating it.
I am thinking maybe some sort of narrative, but I am not sure whether I want to base this journal on a character from TV, my alter ego, or someone I know that I can document. It might be difficult to just do a TV character because there would be limitations in accessing information.
I like the idea of an alter ego, but I am not sure if that is too broad to sort of invent a new person... though if I base it on myself then that might be a better idea?! Plus, it might give me the courage to do things I would never normally do. New experiences are always good... well, sometimes. Hmmm.
Narrative/sequencing is interesting because then it would be like an ongoing story, and I like the idea of layering and overlapping too.
Lots to think about. Indecisiveness is not a good trait to have.
