I was looking at some work by Kevin Van Aelst and found some interesting ideas. The first two images particularly sparked my attention because they are photographs, and I just like how they make up an image. I made me think about how I could illustrate some of my pages... and a final piece. Just because it's a diary, doesn't mean it has to be in the form of a book. It can be done however I choose to.
I thought this was clever and made me think about how I could be visual with my diary. I thought about doing something involving how I felt at the time of whatever diary entry I am on at the time. Like a kind of timeline/emotion meter. Will test that one out.
I quite liked this too because a fingerprint adds a very personal touch... could be the identity of the journal. A secretive one.
This made me want to do some sewing - not a normal thing in my life. But in college I used to use sewing quite a bit within projects, and scan them, etc. They looked really good.Another aspect that intrigued me from the last meeting was Information Graphics. I have looked at this before but never done anything with it, and I was thinking this might be an interesting way to display some of the visual material for my journal. Some examples;

These 2 images (above and below) look amazing. Really like the messy and busy aspect of them, and the fact that they are informing you about something. It's really making me want use this process in my journal... somehow.

Now the above image really caught my attention, mainly due to the fact that it was made up from words... linking to my idea of using dada poetry. I like that here they have created a map of China, highlighted in a different colour, to compliment and relate to the text.
I could use this to create a word within text perhaps? And that could run throughout the entire diary to make up a sentence maybe? I will try this out.
