Cyanide and Happiness

I love these comic strips. Would like to create something simple yet witty like these cartoons. Need to get my thinking cap on.
Cyanide and Happiness, a daily webcomic

...and I just found that they have released a book that includes 120 old favourites - Cyanide & Happiness- I'm Giving You The Finger

Bookbinding workshop

I am so glad I got selected to attend this workshop. I did bookbinding once before but it was really basic. Will hopefully give me some inspiration for Final Major Project next year.

I was looking at Mette-Sofie Ambeck's website and found some really nice work;

I really like these (above and below). Makes me have all sorts of thoughts in my head about what things I could create in book form...

This is a stamp set... really clever idea.

These cutouts are amazing!! Absolutely love them. Would definately like to do something with this in my own book. More ideas are whizzing about in my head... can't wait for this.

End of project

Overall, I am really pleased with everything I achieved in the time that I had. I produced lots of work, and the passion shows due to the hard work and effort I put in.

I like the way the final pieces turned out. There isn't anything I would change if I were to do it again, not anything that I can think of right now anyway. I just hope I have done enough to gain a good grade for it. Especially taking everything into consideration.

Ironically, I was just reading my horoscope and it said;

"While the Sun illuminates your professional chart, promotion and recognition may be important to you. Don't worry, those in power have noticed you and like what they see"

So if that is relating to my project... nice one!

Designs

These are some of the designs I did. The first image are some experiments I did for possible website layouts. But these were done very early on, and didn't really like them.

The second and third images are the final designs. After a lot of examples, these were the most successful, so the whole website follows this theme. I was very pleased with the outcome.

Below are the final posters. Again, I did so many experimentations altering the colours, layout, information, images and so on. The green poster is one of the ideas I had but after a tutorial meeting I was given some advice to add on the images of the female symbol because it didn't quite seem complete. So I did, and they look great. Really happy with them. When you like something enough to want to put it on your wall, then you know you have done a good job.

Welcome fellow bloggers

Welcome to my Year 3 Graphic Design blog.

So, back to where I left off. I decided to completely change my project at the last minute because I just felt that the one I was doing was going nowhere and I had no passion for it at all.

So I chose to expand on a project that I had done before. Last year I did my PDP on Re-designing a new magazine for alternative women called 'Sister'. Originally I wanted to do the promotional side of it too but I didn't have the chance because the re-design took so long. Here are some examples of my re-design. The first image is the back and front cover, the second is the editor and readers letters page. The original magazine I based my re-design on (issue one) can be viewed at www.sistermagazine.co.uk

I looked back through everything I had done, and why I chose that style and so on, and began to write down ideas of possible themes and such for my new project. I wanted to design a website (as you saw from the link it is very plain), and also some posters, and maybe a leaflet and T-Shirts if I had time, as I only had 2 weeks to complete this.

Over these 2 weeks I spent the majority of the time experimenting with ideas, and I did so many posters and website design ideas. I will show these soon.
